Our Story

The love story that nearly never happened...

cork_edited.png

We first met back in 2012, on the Cork balcony during one of Felixstowe’s finest nights out. A very long (and very drunken) hug outside Mark and Lou’s house followed — us both on our best behaviour — but then life carried on, and that spark quietly waited in the background for a whole decade.

Fast forward, to our mutual friend, Chris’ 30th birthday, and that small flame flickered back to life. This time, it stuck.

Laura was drawn to Ben’s warm heart and dreamy eyes. Ben was drawn to Laura’s air of mystery… and, in his own words, her big boobies.

There have been many memorable moments since — like the day Ben realised he’d finally knocked down Laura’s walls (and she handed over a key), and the sunny Tuscan afternoon when Laura, blaming post-flight sniffles, unknowingly discovered that baby Elio had been conceived.

Laura knew it was love early on, when she realised that Ben made her feel safe. For Ben, there’s no single moment — just the quiet certainty that he’s never not loved her.

We’re not perfect (ask us about the infamous Chilli Con Carne incident involving a whole tube of chilli paste), but we laugh constantly, tell the truth always, and show up for each other no matter what. We’re best friends, safe places, and partners in every sense.

And now we can’t wait to get married — and keep hugging each other for at least another decade or two.

A little note for our guests about our guest list

As many of you know deciding a wedding guest list is one of the harder things to do in terms of organising a wedding, made that bit harder when you have a large family (*cough* the Pattinsons)

We've had to be sensible with who we have invited in order for us to have who we want there, the ceremony being limited to 90 people, this means there are family members and friends alike who are only invited to the evening part of our day. You will receive an invite either as an all-day guest or as an evening guest.

We would love to have lots of children at our wedding but again we are limited with our numbers and little people do count, so our guest list for children is limited to our immediate family and those travelling from abroad.

Gifts

As we are so lucky to have a home together, we have decided not to request wedding gifts.

However, if you would like to mark the occasion of our marriage with a gift, then we would be more than grateful to receive a small contribution towards our honeymoon.

More than anything, we hope that you can make it on the day, so please don't feel obliged in any way.
